The main areas of the NanoCarbon Group‘s interest cover synthesis and application-oriented physicochemical modifications of carbon nanomaterials.

Synthesis of sp2carbon nanoallotropes, i.e. carbon nanotubes (CNTs), graphenegraphenoids, and carbon quantum dots (CQDs), comprises mainly c-CVD processing and wet-chemistry methods while their chemistry is inspired by organic chemistry reactions. Both syntheses of the pre-defined from 0- to 3D-nanoparticles and their modifications are designed to yield nanomaterials exhibiting enhanced mechanical, electrical, thermal, electromagnetic, catalytic, optical, and biological properties.

The natural recipients of our solutions are mainly chemical, civil/military, electrical, and mechanical engineering as well as (bio)medicine. The representative examples of our achievements constitute superactive nanobiocatalysts, products for stealth technology, heat-transfer nanofluids, heat storage phase change nanomaterials, conductive inks/pastes for textronics, polymer nanocomposites, and magnetic drug delivery systems.
